Beihai Cruise Terminal Shore Power Project achieved a significant milestone. The ship-to-shore power supply system delivered by Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Zhiguang Electric Technology”) successfully completed its first ship connection and power supply, marking the terminal’s official capability to provide stable and clean shore power for large-scale cruise vessels.

The project utilizes a 10 MVA high-voltage ship shore power system, delivering efficient, low-carbon electricity to the berthed cruise ship and representing another important step in China’s nationwide promotion of shore power usage for vessels at berth.

Located in a subtropical marine climate zone, the Beihai Cruise Terminal is exposed year-round to salt spray, high temperatures, high humidity, and frequent typhoons, imposing exceptionally stringent requirements on the corrosion resistance, environmental adaptability, and operational reliability of shore power equipment. The project strictly complies with the Technical Code for the Construction of Cruise Terminal Shore Power Facilities (JTS 155-2019) and the IEC/IEEE 80005 series of international standards. System design fully incorporates local meteorological and marine conditions, ensuring safe and stable operation under complex and demanding environments.

Parallel operation, flexible and reliable: The system features a parallel configuration of two 5 MVA shore power units, capable of independent or parallel operation. With a total output capacity of up to 10 MVA, it supports both 6.6 kV/60 Hz and 11 kV/60 Hz voltage standards, meeting the power demands of large cruise ships at 100,000-ton-class berths.

Strong environmental adaptability: The equipment is engineered with robust resistance to salt spray, moisture, and corrosion, making it well suited to the high-temperature, high-humidity, and typhoon-prone conditions characteristic of the Beibu Gulf region.

Superior power quality: By adopting multi-pulse rectification and multilevel inverter technologies, the system delivers low harmonic distortion in output voltage, fully compliant with IEC/IEEE 80005-1 requirements, ensuring zero interference with onboard ship power networks.

Comprehensive safety protection: The system integrates multiple protection functions, including reverse power protection, high- and low-voltage ride-through, and adaptive three-phase imbalance control, complemented by both mechanical and electrical interlocking mechanisms to ensure safe and reliable ship-to-shore operations.

The successful implementation of this project once again demonstrates Zhiguang Electric Technology’s strong system integration capabilities and rapid delivery performance in the field of high-voltage variable-frequency shore power. Through close coordination, the project team completed the full scope—from equipment installation and system commissioning to third-party testing and successful ship connection—in a single, high-quality execution, effectively securing the smooth completion of all critical project milestones.

The system is powered by Zhiguang’s independently developed ship shore power solution, characterized by high efficiency, low noise, and strong environmental adaptability. Key technologies such as one-touch voltage and frequency switching and seamless ship-to-shore grid synchronization provide a comprehensive, intelligent power supply solution for cruise vessels at berth.

Looking ahead, Zhiguang Electric Technology will continue to uphold its business philosophy of “helping customers use energy safely, efficiently, and comfortably.” The company remains committed to advancing shore power technology and system optimization, delivering green, intelligent, and reliable shore power solutions to ports worldwide, and supporting the green, low-carbon transformation of the port industry in alignment with China’s national “dual carbon” objectives.
